At Zulu & Zephyr we have always been committed to improve our sustainability practice and explore new materials and technologies to provide you with an even more comfortable, considered and sustainable experience. 

We use Responsible Wool Standard Certified yarns through knitwear to ensure the welfare of the sheep and the land they graze on are protected. 

Our Spring 22 collection debuts the use of Amni’s Soul Eco® an innovative biodegradable polyamide yarn that breaks down within three years after disposal.

Using European Flax® gives us visibility on the raw material so as we work towards full transparency of our supply chain this is really important, we can trust the raw material origins and that environmental standards are met. Linen is typically grown without the use of pesticides and fertiliser as naturally the flax plant requires less than other crops. Although this is not always the case so as we strive for traceability we have sourced European Flax® Linen. Certified as being of the highest quality linen, its quality and strength is thanks to a unique combination of growing conditions and climate therefore European Flax® cannot be grown anywhere else. With its origins traceable to the wide coastal band of Western Europe stretching from the South of Normandy in Northern France through Belgium and the Netherlands.

As textile recycling technology becomes more readily available, we are excited to introduce the use of recycled cotton as a more sustainable alternative. Using recycled fibres as a collective is a crucial step towards a circular economy. Allowing us to reduce our reliance on new materials while diverting textile waste from landfill.

We believe that GOTS certified organic cotton is a more sustainable choice that promotes better social and environmental outcomes, improving the prosperity and health of the people that grow, pick and process the fibre as well as for the end consumer. We first introduced the use of GOTS certified organic cotton in our Spring 2020 Ready to Wear collection, used throughout the collection in lightweight shirting to our exclusive woven stripes developed with artisan weavers in India. Choosing GOTS certified organic cotton ensures we are aligned with the three pillars of sustainability; environmental, social and economic. So often we find that positive environmental impacts create better opportunities for people, socially and economically and organic agriculture is a great example.
