On Holiday with Saasha Burns
Your recent trip to Palm Springs looked beautiful — what were your favourite moments from the trip and why?
Touching down in LA at golden hour was electric — the light and energy was everything. We booked an unexpected stay at The Parker in Palm Springs over Thanksgiving, it was such a dream. We relaxed in hammocks, enjoyed a long lunch by the pool, explored the grounds with Atlas, and Sammy and I had a little date night.

Pacific is our most sustainable collection yet, why is dressing consciously important to you?
I listened to a wonderful interview this week with Jane Goodall on the Artipoppe podcast, who shares so many words of wisdom on the importance of living in harmony and respecting animals and mother nature — and teaching our children to do the same. We do not have infinite natural resources, and every one of us makes an impact on the planet every day through what we buy, what we eat and what we wear. There is much greater awareness around the world for businesses to produce and source goods ethically, driven by consumer behaviour.

We need to support the incredible people, businesses and projects that are creating real and positive change. We all need to take action in any way we can, including buying less and consciously consuming in a way that supports local communities and fair wages, and doesn’t harm the environment or animals.

How did you wear your ZZ pieces in California?
Relaxed over swimwear with sandals and an oversized beach bag, to the pool.

How did it feel getting out of Australia for the first time in 2021?
We felt an overwhelming sense of freedom and gratitude. It honestly didn’t feel real — we hadn’t been overseas in two years. It was so liberating to be able to travel freely and not hear about Covid 19 every day from the Australian media. California gave us much needed clarity, new adventures and memories as a family, and has left us feeling inspired and energised for 2022.

You’re welcoming another bub in 2022 - congratulations! What are you most looking forward to in the new year as a team of four?

Thank you so much, we can’t wait for Atlas to be a big brother. The little newborn bubble as a family of four will be so special — I’m looking forward to all of the precious newborn cuddles. There are so many exciting projects underway for 2022, including renovating a beach house on the Sunshine Coast, and building our dream home in the Byron hinterland. I’m looking forward to spending quality time with family, both in Australia and overseas, and creating unforgettable memories as a family of four.
