BEHIND THE FLOWER PRINT
Creating space for a deeper connection to the great outdoors and the calming and restorative effects of nature, Currents is an ode to the moments that bring us back to nature and back to ourselves. Prints are kept minimal, drawing inspiration from the hues and silhouettes of lush gardens. Highlighting our hand drawn flower print, we discover the process with Head Designer Seraina.

What was the key inspiration behind the print?

We wanted to include a motif print in the collection, that would be nondescript yet still playful. After having such a good response to our Paper Flower print from Resort, I wanted to play with enlarged shapes again so converted this print into a two-tone print.

Tell us a little bit about the process of developing a hand drawn print at Zulu & Zephyr, in particular the Flower.
We usually start with putting pen to paper, scribbling or painting shapes. We usually use this time to play with colours as well. We scan our sketches into the computer and manipulate the shapes to create repeats. For the Flower print, this is where I experimented with what colour would work alongside the other prints and tones of the collection.

What is your favourite piece in the print and how would you style it?
I’m really into knitted skirts at the moment, so the Flower Knitted Skirt would be my pick. You can dress it down with an oversized jumper or shirt, playing with layering & lengths. You can pair back with the Knitted Bralette for a dressier ensemble.
